How to Get Stickers off a Car Body

You need to take into account the paint of your car when removing stickers. Yes, stickers can damage the color of your car, truck, or SUV, but you can prevent this by using these products and following the steps we recommend:

  • Use car washing soap
  • Get a hairdryer
  • Pick a plastic card (library card, membership card, etc.)
  • Purchase tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive
  • You need clean, dry towels

Now that you have the products and materials, you need to learn how to remove stickers from your car properly, we can start the removal process:

  1. Clean the entire sticker and its surrounding area using the car wash soap.
  2. Hold the hairdryer two to three inches away from the sticker and turn the hairdryer on to hot. Work from the inside out to ensure that you heat the entire sticker. Only blow-dry the sticker for a few seconds.
  3. The sticker should be hot. Now is the time to use your plastic card to push against the sticker’s edge carefully. If the residue of the sticker is beginning to lift, you can peel the rest off. You may need to repeat the previous instructions a few times if your sticker decides to come off in bits or due to the size of the sticker.
  4. Not all stickers come off with ease and may leave a layer of adhesive residue behind. So now you need to know how to remove sticker residue from a car. Not only is this an easy fix, but it is also where the other products and materials within our list come into play.
  5. Take a clean, dry cloth and add either tree sap remover or Goo Gone Automotive; please follow the instructions when using products. Take the cloth and gently wipe the residue of the sticker until it is gone.
